Working in a position such as a roustabout on an Australia oil rig would or could include duties like, drilling in the oil rig, uploading of equipment and supplies, supplying equipment where needed, maintaining main and pipe deck by keeping them clean, tidy and accessible and also helping with the guidance of the crane as the supply loads are moved to rig deck.

Additional duties could include helping the roughnecks on the drill floor when they are to busy to have a break.
