A job as a crane operator would include duties such as supervising of all crane operations from supply boats and aboard the rig plus the supervising of the roustabouts and assistant crane operator. Cranes on the rigs are used for bringing supplies such as groceries, castings, pipes, rig equipment etc.

The crane operators job is to lift the supplies from the boats onto the rig safely. The crane operator is in charge of supplying the floor with supplies needed. In a job such as this a good sense of humor, fast reflexes and management skills would be great qualities to have. Additional tasks as a crane operator could include painting, cleaning and general rig maintenance.
